For families with young children, sunrise is often the most seamless choice. The beach is quieter, the air is cooler, and little ones tend to be happiest in the soft morning light when they are well rested.

Sunrise is also highly recommended for downtown Charleston sessions. Early mornings allow us to avoid heavy foot traffic and parked cars along the historic streets, creating clean, timeless images that feel beautifully uninterrupted.

Sunset sessions offer warm, golden tones and are especially lovely for couples, graduates, and families with older children.

I’ll guide you toward the timing that best complements both your group and your vision.

I coordinate your session around tides, light, and weather so the experience feels seamless and beautifully relaxed — allowing you to focus on being together.

Folly Beach and Charleston memories deserve to be preserved with care and intention.

Soft, coastal tones photograph most beautifully — creams, muted blues, sage, blush, and light earth tones and neutrals.

Avoid bright reds, oranges, neon shades, or bold graphics near the face. These colors can reflect onto skin and alter how portraits photograph.

Coordinated palettes (rather than exact matching) create a cohesive, elevated look. If wearing white, ensure the fabric is lined and not sheer in direct sunlight.

For little ones, I recommend:

• Clear water or apple juice

• A simple, non-messy snack

Sunrise sessions are often the smoothest option for toddlers, allowing everyone to feel calm and unhurried. Children are usually better rested at sunrise and feeding them some breakfast before your session is a great idea!

If someone in your immediate household is feeling unwell, please reach out as soon as possible.
Whenever feasible, I will work with you to reschedule so everyone can feel comfortable and at ease during your session.

Most of my clients tell me they feel “awkward” in front of a camera — and leave saying the portrait experience was far easier and more fun than they expected. I gently guide you throughout the session so you feel natural, confident, and relaxed.

The most meaningful images happen in between the posed moments — and I know how to create space for both.

Each collection includes a thoughtfully curated number of edited images, with the option to purchase additional favorites from your gallery. Full gallery upgrades are also available.
Rather than overwhelming you with hundreds of files, I focus on delivering a refined selection of images that feel intentional, beautiful, and complete.

My editing style is refined and natural.

I correct color, tone, and light while preserving authentic skin texture and expression. My goal is timeless imagery that still looks like you — simply at your best.

Your date is secured with a signed agreement and non-refundable retainer fee. Because I accept a limited number of sessions each week, dates are not held without both.

The remaining balance is due prior to your session, and once reserved, your date is exclusively yours.

Each location offers a distinct aesthetic — and together, they allow us to craft portraits that feel both personal and enduring.

Yes — extended family sessions are available through The Heritage Ode portrait session, designed for larger gatherings and multiple family combinations.
The Ode portrait session is best for smaller families (up to 6, with limited additions at $25 per person), while The Heritage Ode allows the additional time and coordination needed for larger groups and a fuller range of portraits.

For portraits, it’s best to avoid brimmed hats and sunglasses. They create shadows across the eyes and face and interrupt connection in images.

Portraiture is about expression and presence — and we want to see your eyes and your face.

Coastal breezes are part of Folly and Charleston's character — and at times, the wind can be quite strong. I recommend choosing well-fitted clothing with a bit of structure and avoiding very ruffly or ultra-light breeze-catching fabrics. If you have longer hair, bringing a simple hair tie is always wise. A few wind-swept strands are natural on the beach and are not removed in standard editing, so planning ahead makes a meaningful difference.

All sessions are weather-dependent. If conditions prevent us from photographing safely or effectively, I will make every reasonable effort to reschedule. If rescheduling during your stay isn’t possible, your session fee may be applied toward a new date within one year at the same rate. Retainer fees are non-refundable.

Most portrait sessions last between 60–90 minutes, depending on the collection you choose. The Epic is the only extended individual portrait session that lasts up to 3 hours.

Each of my poem-inspired session offerings — from The Verse to The Epic — is thoughtfully designed to allow for a relaxed, beautifully paced experience.

There is never a rush. The best images unfold naturally.

Yes — proposals are photographed through The Volta portrait session offering, a thoughtfully planned experience with discreet coverage of the moment. I’ll work with you in advance to coordinate location and timing so everything unfolds naturally.
The Love Sonnet is designed for couples or two people — romantic or platonic — and is best suited for portraits, not proposals.

Your fully edited gallery will be delivered within approximately 2–3 weeks of your session.

Each image is individually refined for tone, color, and consistency to ensure your gallery feels cohesive and timeless. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you may download your specific session's included images and select additional favorites or an entire gallery upgrade, for purchase, if desired.

I kindly ask that phones remain put away during your session so you can be fully present and enjoy the experience.

My approach is thoughtfully guided, and my equipment is designed to capture light, depth, and detail with care. When everyone is relaxed and engaged, it allows me to create the most natural and meaningful images for you.
